"The artist knows he must be alone to create; the writer, to work out his thoughts; the musician, to compose; the saint, to pray. But women need solitude in order to find again the true essence of themselves." - Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Depends. If it's your name, a nickname totally works. just don't put it on your forearm aligned so that only you can read it ;)
If it's somebody else's name... well, that's never a good idea.
You made me snort out loud, Rob. :) Actually, it isn't my name. I'm pondering this about Baby Ace. Real name or nickname?
Hmmm, that's an interesting question...
On the one hand, if he grows up and wants to be called Andy, or Drew, or Andrew, or... um, Andrea :O, Ace will kinda be defunct.
On the other hand, if he's called Ace all his life and never goes by Andrew, that'd be weird.
His initials won't ever change though! Lucky me, I've already got 'em on my back! :D
I think I'd go with Ace. I think that no matter what he wants to be called when he gets older, by his friends or co-workers, we'll always think of him as Ace. Like Drew - he started having people in California call him Andrew, but his mom and all of his friends (and I) still call him Drew. If Ace REALLYREALLY wants to be called something else, hey, okay, but he'll always be my little Ace of hearts. :)
