Shh! Did you hear that? Posted by Hello

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone. I hope the year 2005 is the greatest year for one and all. For those of you that like to bring in the New Year with a friend or two named Jack or Jim or Jose, please drive carefully or get yourselves a DD. I'd like to keep the friends and family I have. It's taken me so long to find a few of you that I can tolerate long term. Ha ha. Seriously, get a DD. :) I will be dining at the Cork and Cleaver, courtesy of my dear husband. I think he wants me to keep him another year. Be safe.

Cats Vs. Birds

As most of you know, I have been stuck in the house for days now. Going a little wacko. However, I have been entertained by the show put on by my two inside kitties. Before I tell you more, let me say that with the quantity of snow we received, the top of the snow is just under the sliding glass doors. My cats favorite place to lay is in front of these two sliding glass doors.

The birds outside have no trouble walking on top of the snow. So, the kitties are eyeball to eyeball with the greatest toys they have ever seen. However, there is the problem of the glass doors. These two cats have jumped up the doors and have repeatedly smacked their heads into the doors trying to get the birds. They have knocked each other over trying to get the first bird. They have stepped on each other and rolled over the top of each other. It is one of the most amusing things I have seen in a long time. Don't think I'm mean. I felt bad the first few times they did it but now we are up to round 60 and I can't feel much sympathy. They could stop doing it. But, no, they are cats. The birds have realized that the cats are no threat, so they are nesting right up against the house. (two inches from kitty eyeballs) I figure they are either going to get bored with it or knock themselves out. Either way, it has been very entertaining for me.

The Freakin' Snow

Well, here are some pictures of the snowstorm. We got about 22 inches of snow. The strangest thing of all was the lightning and thunder that came with the second round of storms. Don't recall ever seeing snow and lightning at the same time. As you can see, it buried most of the property. Needless to say, we are stuck here for awhile. The only bad part about country living. Some day my car will be freed from the snow prison. John had to get on top of the roof to unbury our intake for the furnace. When he woke up this morning, it was quite chilly inside. Wish I would have got a picture of that. ha ha On a brighter note, it's supposed to be 56 degrees next Wednesday. I will have a lake outside for sure. Anyone up for some swimming?

Snow

Well, the lastest forecast is nothing but white. We have a severe winter weather watch for the next few days. "A white Christmas is immanent" reports the meteorologist. We are supposed to get up to 8 inches in three days time. This is supposed to start tomorrow night. Boo! It is already ass-chilling cold and now we get large quantities of snow. It will be spring before the salt trucks make it to my house. :(

Crazy Children

Well, today we received our first round of Christmas cards. I must say, one stands above the rest. I open the envelope to see a picture of one of my children and my son-in-law. Now, here's the interesting part. She has on antlers and a red nose and is holding a rope. The rope is attached to a John "Deere" riding mower that is decorated festivally with a red bow and a wreath. Sitting on the mower is her husband in a santa hat. It appears as if she is toting him across the lawn. It is times like these that I have to remind my husband that this child is clearly of his loins. :) It is always possible that the egg nog was brought out a bit early but my guess is that they are just goofy. Like her papa! ha ha

Crazy Deer

Driving home this evening, I was once again noticed by one of the neighborhood deer families. She dashed in front of the car as if she had something important to tell me. Oh, wait, blink blink. She decides to just stand in front of the car like an imbecile. So, my choices are limited at this point. I can take the low road into the field and hope I can get back out or I can run into this deer that weighs more than my car. I take the low road and bounce along the edge of the road, wondering why deer were left out of the brain pool. I managed to get around Bambi without harm to her or me or my car. If only we could talk to these poor critters of the woods and explain that car + deer = bad news for all.
