I went on a little boat ride today. Dropped off on a lovely little place called Shell Island. When I got to the beach area - it's a bit of a walk - I immediately noticed three things.
1. The ocean was a beautiful green color and crystal clear.
2. The white beach stretched on and on.
3. The vampire bugs!
I can say these bugs were hungry, very hungry. They were a fly that could take a chunk outta your skin. It freakin' hurt! Any part of your skin that was not submersed, was a buffet. Got tired of that rather quickly and headed back to the other side of the island. Thought about going back but decided to try to snorkel a bit in a different area. No go. The water wasn't very deep where we could snorkel without getting run over by a boat. So off we walked to the far side. Alas, no nasty bugs and water that was lovely. Cool and refreshing it was. It ended up to be quite the nice trip. The first hour was a bit rough but we just had to run from zee vicious bugs.
After the return trip, I went down to Ebb Tide and did a bit more swimming and then watched the sun set. Nothing like a Florida sunset.
